Credit note

Modified on Wed, 1 Apr at 12:10 PM

A credit note is an accounting document issued by a seller to correct or cancel all or part of an invoice that has already been issued.

It is generally used in the following situations:

  • Return of goods
  • Error on an invoice (amount, quantity, price…)
  • Discount or commercial gesture after invoicing
  • Cancellation of a sale

A credit note indicates a negative amount that reduces the sum the customer has to pay or reimburses an amount already paid.

In accounting, it therefore makes it possible to officially correct an invoice while keeping a compliant and legal record of the operation.

In the case of electronic invoicing, if the original invoice has been rejected by the recipient, it will obviously not be necessary to create a credit note.

Create a Credit Note in ABCinvoice.eu

In ABCinvoice.eu there are several ways to proceed.

In all cases, please note that the credit note must include the date and the number of the original invoice.

1) Directly create a credit note in the invoices (customer or supplier) from the list view.

2) You also have the possibility, for an invoice that has already been issued, to create a corresponding credit note.

3) For an invoice currently being created, it is possible to transform it directly into a credit note.
