0% VAT – Exemption Reason Codes

Modified on Fri, 26 Jun at 2:45 PM

When a VAT exemption applies, it is mandatory to specify the reason for the exemption. This information is represented by a VATEX (VAT Exemption) code.

If you are covered by the French VAT exemption scheme for small businesses (franchise en base de TVA), the code VATEX-FR-FRANCHISE will be assigned automatically during your registration. No further action is required on your part.

However, if you are subject to the VAT Margin Scheme (second-hand goods, works of art, collectors’ items, antiques, or other cases provided for by applicable regulations), you must select the appropriate VAT exemption code in the settings of your ABCinvoice.eu application: https://support.abcinvoice.eu/en/support/solutions/articles/22000295783-vat-margin-scheme

If your VAT exemption is based on another legal reason, you can consult the complete list of VATEX codes at:
https://docs.peppol.eu/poacc/billing/3.0/codelist/vatex/

If you have any difficulty identifying the correct VATEX code for your situation, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to assist you.
